I've been attending River 47 since 2013 and I love it. It is a small community church with the most amazing people. I love that there are lots of opportunities for service and we get to put our faith in action to help within the community. There are also lots of opportunities to connect with other congregants for movie nights, game nights, Wednesday night dinner and Bible study, and dinners for eight. The people at River 47 have become like family to me. I joined a small Bible study group that encouraged and helped me through my first reading of the New Testament which then led me to becoming baptized. There's a great Awana program for kids on Sunday during service and a youth group for teens. I couldn't imagine my life without this church.

River47 is in transition. We have a new pastor and he is preaching the Word of God. Our church family is supportive of both him and the outreach of this congregation. It is a good place to be as we grow together.

You wonder why your congregation is diminishing and in transition. The people who make decisions about good contract employees and discriminate because they dress more provocative than suits your self righteousness are driving good folks away. That is why we are gone and will not come back. A nice Friday night after hours email shows your cowardice.

Once upon a time, this was a great church with an amazing community. Strong pastoral leadership with challenging and enlightening sermons for the adults, with a wonderful youth pastorship for the children. Somewhere along the line that was lost. In place, emerged a rumor mongering judgmental feel. Whispers in the congregation, changes to the pastoral staff with vague assertions as to the reasons, and sadly the new pastoral leadership that was put in to place was lacking. It went from enlightening to condescending. References to a leadership council that was making decisions both internally and from higher up in the organization were made, and yet I was never given enough insight to know this council. I originally joined a church and a community that was welcoming and and growing. When I left, it was a fractured organization attempting to assert authority over it's parishoners by changing whatever it was the council did not like. Rather than a community, it felt more like a dictatorship. And no good church can be run from the shadows.
I hope to hear from the remainder of the community that this organization finds it's way. Stops trying to create a mold that no one wants, and instead returns to the welcoming environment I once enjoyed every Sunday. I may never be able to return, but hopefully those that remain who deserve better from the organization will be rewarded for their faith in god.Added September 15, 2016 by Carl Palermo II - ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
I personally have never felt comfortable going to church and for some reason have always felt judged when entering into these establishments. River47 is no different! The Pastor seeks not to get to know his community but instead passes judgment on those who truly care about and try to be good people in society. He cares not about trying to guide you on your path to create a better relation with God. He is power hungry and aims to remove anyone who opposes a different view than his own... Or rather the views of his council. They make decisions based off of rumors rather than fact and cast out those who as I just stated seem to pose a threat. This church embodies a verse from Proverbs 6:19 - “A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Maybe it's just me, but I don't see how this aims to bring people into the community. How can you expect people to want to come and be a part of such a false establishment. They seem more hell bent on worrying about things like a woman's attire rather than facing their own sins and praying for forgiveness for things like lusting over others. They need to focus on what really matters! A verse from Galatians 5:22 states, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness..."
and this is what the church should focus on. For those looking for a welcoming and uplifting place to find your faith, THIS IS NOT IT! Look elsewhere and to this church, may you find your way back to what truly matters.Added July 31, 2016 by Nicco Gonzalez
